The short story "The Blighting of Sharkey" was first published in Pearson's Magazine in April 1911, with seemingly no contemporary American magazine publication. It was first collected in The Last Galley in 1911.

This story, together with another three short stories titled "Captain Sharkey" first appeared together in Tales of Pirates and Blue Water in 1922. (Adapted from Wikisources)
