About
It's a cold, bleak, biting Christmas Eve in 19th century London. A bitter old miser and sinner named Ebenezer Scrooge hates Christmas and spends the evening alone, having refused his nephew's dinner invitation. Suddenly he is visited by a ghost of his late business partner Marley, who is forever cursed to wander the Earth dragging heavy chains, forged during a lifetime of greed and selfishness. Marley's ghost tells Scrooge that he will be visited by three spirits and that he must listen to them or be cursed to carry much longer chains of his own. And here they are: Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come....
First published in London in 1943, A Christmas Carol remains popular — having never been out of print—and has been adapted many times to film, stage, opera, and other media.
