(I'm not a programmer of any kind, so I have no real idea how hard this might be to implement.)

I'd like to see some way to track the number of shares a book gets. One possible way is that rather than suggesting that people email the book to each other, include a link at the beginning or the end (or both!) that redirects them back to a page at OB.com where they can enter email addresses to send a recommendation to. That rec could either actually include the file (although people might be reluctant to open it) or include a linkback to the original book's page. Either way, if the site kept track of the number of addresses shared with, that would be useful data.

Hey Luther,

The feature itself is quite easy to implement and pretty obvious. So obvious that we skipped it by design in the early days of talks about OB - it was supposed to be something differentiating us from the other websites: if you want to share, share the book itself not the link to the website.

BUT, from what we currently think, the link itself would be useful. I just need to have some free time to think about how to fit it in our flow and design.

1 and 2 is just about being transparent and showing that the website is alive. We were talking about it for some time and it will probably stay for a bit longer BUT we are aware of that. In fact we were just discussing this earlier today. The purchases were also meant to inspire others to also pay for the book, but of course the main problem for this is somewhere else.
3. is in the pipeline but we are still arguing whether do a "spotify for books" or just app to pay for downloaded books. It would be an app that would allow the users to read all the books from OB on a mobile device, pay for it at the moment of reading but also allow for users to upload and read books from different sources (probably a lot of pitfals there)
4. this is already waiting for deployment if I remember correctly, if not - it should be online in a matter of couple of days. I wanted to mix this with "versions" of books - i.e. a book can have 1.0 version and then updates, 1.1, 1.2 just like with software.
