"A Christmas Carol" of our time
As I live in Berlin, a city where you see much more homeless people than in many other places, this short story is significant to me in a sense that I feel it could have taken place just around the corner. You can think of it as a modern, socially engaged version of "A Christmas Carol"; hopeful, ironic, bittersweet. Maybe a bit too sad to be sent as a Christmas present though. Anyway, I liked it a lot, even though I normally avoid anything connected to Christmas like a plague. But here somehow the main character and his struggles are more important than the time when they are happening, so I didn't mind. Thank you, Julien, for writing and sharing this, and all the best for the time you will spend helping the refugees!
