Writing, especially biographical writing, has occupied most of my professional career.  This writing as ranged from obscure people (James Hay, 1st Earl of Carlisle) to rather famous ones (William Bligh of the Bounty).  Hollywood, Red, White and Blue combines both types into one book.  The obscure are members of my family who ran afoul of the Red Scare of the 1950s to the better known such as Gene Kelly and J. Edgar Hoover.  My favorite lesser known character in this book has the marvelous name of L.A. Schmuck.  Honest.
